I love my white shoes!

Last Thursday was international book day and all the kids in Odessa's nursery dressed up as their favourite book characters. It was pretty surreal when Odessa and I got there and the nursery was full of princesses and pirates with a goldilocks and a couple of red ridding hoods.  Odessa went as a cat (no surprise there), this time it was 'Pete the Cat' - a much loved character from a fantastic serial about a very cool cat. The stories are simple and charming, have got a positive massage and a Caribbean vibe. You can also download the songs which go with the stories. Odessa is wearing two different coloured shoes.  In one of the books Pete keeps stepping into things which change the colour of his shoes but he doesn't worry... 'he just keeps walking and singing his song'.

Happy mother day!

This morning, as it's mother's day, I stayed in bed (of course!).  Tim and Odessa were reading books in the kitchen and this is the conversation I heard:

Tim - 'What is it?'
Odessa - 'It's a fat, grumpy dog!'
after few seconds of silence...
Tim (trying to stop the laughter) - 'No sweetheart, it's a hippopotamus! :)

To all the best to all wonderful mothers out there!

To celebrate we went to Notting Hill and finally ate at Yotam Ottolenghi's who has been one of our biggest cooking inspirations lately. Highly recommended!

the best

People often ask me what kind of child Odessa is, and it's just so hard to say, not only is she changing all the time and going through different stages, but also her behaviour seems to not obey any rules. For example, if you saw her on the stage performing you might think she is a very confident girl, but at the same time she would be very shy talking to you. She is usually very calm and laid back, but sometimes little things drive her crazy. It's just impossible to put any label on her.  What I do know is that she is at her best when she is with her friend Lelia. Everything I find beautiful about Odessa comes out straight away when she sees her little friend's face. You should see the smile she gives her - nobody else gets a smile like that. These two are so adorable together that tourists stop and take pictures of them like they were another London attraction. There is such a magical chemistry between them. I really hope it will last forever. I think close friendships are the best part of childhood.
